The privacy policy, in plain words.
Moko-Avi is a private journal. What you record in it belongs to you. We collect only what the journal needs to work, we never sell your data, and we show no ads. This page says exactly what that means.
Your entries are private by default, visible only to you and the people you explicitly invite. We don’t sell or rent your information, we don’t advertise, and your journal is never used to train AI models. You can delete your entries, or your whole account, at any time.
Who we are
Moko-Avi is operated by Moko-Avi LLC, a company registered in Texas, United States. The app is currently available in the United States and Canada, for adults 18 and older. For any question about this policy, write to info@mokoavi.com. A person answers.
What we collect
- Your email address. Used to sign you in with one-time codes and sign-in links. There is no password to store, and no profile built around you.
- Your journal content. The moments you choose to record: voice recordings, their transcriptions, photos, and written entries. This exists so the app can play your days back to you, compose your journal, and, if you choose, share a moment with your trusted circle.
- Your subscription status. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details, only whether your subscription is active, in trial, or lapsed, so the app knows what to unlock.
- Basic app and device data. The minimum needed to run the service reliably: app version, device type, and diagnostic logs when something goes wrong.
How your content is processed
Some features involve automated processing of your content, such as transcribing a recording or composing your weekly journal. That processing happens solely to deliver the feature you asked for, through a small number of providers, each bound by agreements limiting their use of your data to serving us:
- Supabase hosts your account and journal data securely.
- OpenAI processes recordings and entries for transcription and composition. Content sent for processing is not used to train their models.
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions. It receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase status, never your journal content.
- Apple handles payments and app distribution under Apple’s own privacy terms.
Sharing, on your terms
By default, nobody sees your journal but you. If you invite people to your trusted circle, they see only what the circle is designed to show them, and you can change or revoke that at any time. We never make your content public, and we never hand it to third parties for their own purposes.
About the people in your journal
Moko-Avi is for adults, but the moments you record are often about the people you love, including children in your family. That content is yours: it stays private by default, it is shared only with people you choose, and deleting it removes it from our service. We ask that you record and share moments about others, especially children, with the same care the app is built around.
Retention and deletion
We keep your content for as long as you keep your account, so your journal is there when you return. Delete an entry and it is removed from the service. To delete your whole account, email info@mokoavi.com from your account address and we will delete your journal content and personal information from our systems, keeping only the minimal records the law requires us to hold, such as transaction records.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access within our systems is restricted, and sign-in uses one-time codes rather than stored passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting little in the first place is the strongest protection we can offer.
What we will never do
- Sell or rent your personal information or your journal.
- Show you advertising, or share your data with advertisers.
- Use your journal content to train AI models.
- Read your journal, except where strictly necessary to provide support you asked for, investigate abuse, or comply with the law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under California and Canadian privacy law, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to ask what we hold about you. Our practice is the same everywhere: email info@mokoavi.com and we will honor these requests for any user, without ever treating you differently for asking.
Age requirement
Moko-Avi is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page. We will never quietly weaken the commitments above.
